Promote All Class 1-8 Students To Next Grade: HRD Minister Tells CBSE

Students Of Class 9 And 11 Will Be Promoted On School-based Assessments Conducted So Far, He Said, Adding Those Not Promoted This Time Can Appear In School-based Tests Online Or Offline.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has asked the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to promote all students of classes 1 to 8 to next grate in view of the 21-day nationwide lockdown to tackle coronavirus outbreak. "In view of the current situation due to #COVID19, I have advised @cbseindia29 to promote ALL students studying in classes I-VIII to the next class or grade," Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' said in a series of tweets.

Students of class 9 and 11 will be promoted on school-based assessments conducted so far, he said, adding those not promoted this time can appear in school-based tests online or offline.

Earlier, CBSE Board Exams 2020 for class 10 and class 12 that were scheduled to be conducted in the period from March 19 to March 31 had to be postponed due to the outbreak of Coronavirus outbreak. It is to note that a total of 138 papers are postponed for class 10 and class 12 board exams. Further, the remaining papers left includes mainly vocational papers and all the main papers are already conducted successfully by the board.

Now, CBSE is going to evaluate of these 138 papers, the main 29 papers that are going to be conducted by the hoard. The CBSE Board Exam 2020 revised timetable for class 10 and class 12 is yet to be released. For more details, candidates need to visit the official website of CBSE, i.e. cbse.nic.in.
