Former president and army chief of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf on Thursday termed SC’s landmark verdict to disqualify Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as a moment of happiness for the people of Pakistan.
Speaking exclusively to News Nation’s Ajay Kumar, Musharraf said after SC's verdict on Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan will now be heading towards the right direction.
He said after Sharif’s ouster the higher level corruption in Pakistan politics will come to an end.
Musharraf also gave credit to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan for his efforts to unmask corrupt Nawaz Sharif in Panama Papers leak case.
“The problem is with Nawaz Sharif and not others. It was the third time he could not complete his term as a prime minister. I have seen Sharif very closely, he lacks leadership qualities. He doesn’t know how to govern and his intentions were corrupt,” said the former president of Pakistan.
“He is his own worst enemy,” Musharraf added.
Earlier in the day, in a landmark decision, the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from holding public office after it found him guilty in Panama Papers case.
After the apex court decision, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's leader resigned from the post of Prime Minister.
