At least 18 new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in Maharashtra, taking the total number of such cases in the state to 320. While 16 people were tested positive for coronavirus in Mumbai, two confirmed cases were reported in Pune. In Maharashtra, a total of 12 people lost their lives due to coronavirus.
"Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally till Tuesday night was 302. Today, we got reports of 18 more people testing positive for the viral infection. This has taken the state tally to 320," PTI quoted the health officials as saying. "Of the 18 new cases, 16 have been reported from Mumbai and two from Pune," they added.
The officials further noted that two more coronavirus patients lost their lives, taking the count to 12 in Maharashtra. “One was while the other, a 50-year-old man, died in adjoining Palghar district,” the officials added. The officials also stated that so far 39 coronavirus positive patients have been discharged after recovery.
The death count in India has reached over 50 due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus in the country. According to the latest update, more than 1,500 cases of coronavirus has been reported in India so far.
To stop the novel coronavirus outbreak, PM Modi had on Tuesday last week announced a complete lockdown in the country for the next 21 days. After this, the Indian Railways announced the suspension of passenger trains till April 14, 2020. All international and domestic commercial flights have already been suspended till April 14, 2020.
It is worth mentioning here that the novel coronavirus, which originated in China, has claimed thousands of lives across the world. Over 8,00,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus across the globe, with the global death toll rising to 42,000. With no known cure so far for the coronavirus, the deadly disease has become a major issue for the entire world.
