A Border Security Force personnel was killed by cow smugglers near the Indo-Bangladesh borders on Thursday.

According to initial reports a BSF team posted near the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas was attacked by cow smugglers.

The deceased BSF personnel was part of the team that intercepted the mini-truck in which cow smugglers were trying to smuggle the cattle across the border.

The deceased BSF personnel has been identified as Tushar Kanti Das of BSF’s 64 Batallion.

Superintendent of Police P Sudhakar said, “The truck trying to escape hit Kanti.”

Another senior official of the West Bengal Police willing not to be named said that Kanti suffered fatal injuries due to the hit.

Kanti was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The speeding-truck after hitting Kanti also dashed a road-side shop. The driver of the mini-truck managed to escape but the helper was caught and handed over to police. Police recovered four cows from the truck.
