Rajya Sabha MP and Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D Raja on Friday met Justice Chelameswar at his residence after the Supreme Court judge along with three other senior judges called a press conference where they had said ‘all was not well with the judiciary.’
The communist leader after meeting Justice Chelameswar said, “The issues raised are concerns for everybody as it is about the future of the country and democracy.”
The Rajya Sabha MP also asserted that his meeting was completely personal. “I know him from a college times. On learning about the step taken by him and three other judges I thought of meeting him.”
Raja added, “The meeting was completely personal and I am not trying to give it any political colour.”
Later CPI clarified that its leader D Raja met Justice Chelameswar in his personal capacity and not as a representative of the party.
CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy said, “He met Justice Chelameswar in his personal capacity.”
