The CPI-Maoists, a banned left-wing extremist outfit, killed 94 civilians in the first six month of the year, informed Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir to Rajya Sabha.
"94 civilians have been killed in 2017 (till June) by the Maoists," Ahir said in a written reply to a question.
He added that the people killed were tribals and were branded as police informers by the left-wing extremist.
The method of killings include multiple beatings, hacking with sharp weapons and shooting, said the Minister.

The CPI (Maoist) including its arms wing People's Liberation Guerilla Army will be observing ‘Martyrs’ Week’ from July 28 to August 3. During the week the extremist outfit hold meetings and spread their propaganda among the villagers. The Maoist also target security forces and government during the week.
