Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were kille in an encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, reported ANI news agency. While one jawan died at the spot, another succumbed to the injuries during the treatment.
The encounter came a day after the killing of Vanjam Budhu, a wanted Maoist carrying Rs 1 lakh bounty on his head, in an encounter with District Reserve Guard (DRG) in Sukma. The the Nilamadgu RPC (Revolutionary People's Committee) in-charge and Jan Militia commander was killed during a search operation in forests between Murliguda and Atkal.

As the search party was closing in, the rebels opened fire on the DRG team to which they retaliated. The DRZG had recovered a weapon, some surgical items along with a bag of medicines from the spot. The anti-Maoist operations in insurgency hit area have increased in last few years and several Maoists have been killed in as many as 19 encounters in the year 2019.
Areas that suffer the Maoist insurgency most include Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, and West Bengal and some of the eastern Uttar Pradesh states.
