A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan allegedly shot himself dead on Monday in the insurgency-hit Sukma district, police told. This kind of incident has happened for the third in this month that is May in Chhattisgarh.
At around 4 pm at the paramilitary force’s camp at Penta village, constable Divakara Rao (37), who was with 150th battalion of CRPF, shot himself with his own service rifle, according to PTI.
He was immediately taken to a hospital at CRPF camp in Dornapal by his colleagues. He died while he was undergoing treatment in the hospital.
He hailed from Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh.
The reason behind such step has not yet been confirmed.
Earlier in May the two incidents of a CRPF jawan committing suicide had been reported in Chhattisgarh—where the force has been deployed for the last several years to fight the Naxals.
