A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel sustained injuries when a `pressure bomb' planted by Naxals went off in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Bijapur district today, police informed on Friday.
The incident took place in Mahadev Ghati area under Bijapur police station limits this morning when an ROP (road opening party) of CRPF's 229th battalion was on patrolling duty, a police official told.
As the CRPF team was moving through the Ghati, which is around 450 km from here, inspector Bhim Singh stepped on a pressure IED (improvised explosive device) connection, triggering the blast. "Singh sustained minor splinter injuries in the right hand," the official said. He was taken to the Bijapur district hospital and his condition was said to be normal.
