Amid rising anger among people across India and constant criticism by the opposition political parties like Congress and Aam Aadmi Party over exchanging and dispensing the scrapped currency from banks and ATMs, few leaders and celebrities have come up in support of the move.
Even, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday regretted hardships caused due to the withdrawal of high denomination notes but advised the public to be patient as the move will have larger benefits for the economy in long term.
Leaders like Yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju have applauded the step by PM Narendra Modi, Stars from the glamour world, Suniel Shetty and wrestler Khali have too supported the cause of demontetisation.
Whereas former external affairs minister and Congress leader Salman Khurshid has raised questions over central government’s step to scrap old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 note.
Here is who said what:
# On Congress pitching to raise the issue of Demonetisation in Parliament Kiren Rijiju said, "If they want to raise issue then its their choice, we will give our reply."
# Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty said, "Its a very good decision by the Govt, and if there is an extension given now for the poor then even better."
# Ex- WWE Wrestler Khali said, "I understand there will be some temporary problems for people but this is the best way to curb menace of black money"
#While Salman Khurshid questioned the move and said, "If demonetisation as good as Swachh Abhiyan they have done? The physical one was 100% failure; will this fail too? Problem is not of extracting money out of people; problem is how to prevent black money or a parallel economy from functioning."
# Yoga guru Baba Ramdev once again showing his support to the PM Modi's step said, "During war, our soldiers fight sans eating for 7-8 days; so can't we do the same for our nation? Huge inconvenience has been caused that can be lessened & govt is trying to do so; people shouldn’t condemn Modiji."
