RBI old currency notes worth Rs 342 crore looted

RBI's old currency notes worth RS 342 crore went missing from a Chennai-bound train. The train was coming from Salem. According to the GRP officials, the notes were packed in 226 boxes and out these, two were found to be tampered as money was falling out of them. A hole was also found at the roof of the train coach, hinting at a possible loot.

It is reported that this act was carried out by people who knew that old currency notes worth Rs 342 crore were being transported.
