Severe cyclonic storm 'Mora' is heading towards Northeast India, Odisha and West Bengal as it passes through Bangladesh wreaking havoc with heavy rains and wind speed up to 80mph. 

While the authorities declared high alert in the state, it is important to take some precautions to ensure minimum loss of life and goods as the storm passes. 

According to a list of dos and don'ts issued by National Disaster Management Authority people should follow these safety measures during and after the cyclone: 

# Do not try to enter the damaged buildings

# Volunteer to help the people in need

# Use mobile phone only during emergency

# When 'all clear messages' is declared by the government officials then only venture out

# Listen to the advice of local officials and emergency workers

# Watch out for broken electric poles, broken glasses and sharp objects

# Stay away from flooded and affected areas

# Drink boiled water

# Do not use toilet if the water pipes are damaged
