In Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state, Gujarat, a 21 year-old Dalit was allegedly hacked to death by men from upper caste for riding and owning a horse.

The people behind the act also killed the youth’s horse, which was gifted to deceased by his father, sources said.

According to police, the family members in their complaint informed the police that the killed, Pradip Rathod, was warned by a few people from the upper caste not to ride the horse in Timbi village.

Rathod and the horse was killed on Thursday night, police said.

Umrala Police have arrested three people in connection with the killing of the Dalit youth and his horse. The arrests were made after family members named one of the accused’s name in the FIR.

According to the police, the victim’s father had gifted the horse to the youth some four months ago.
