Defamation case: Arvind Kejriwal failed to file response, High Court slaps Rs 10,000 fine

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday slapped Rs. 10,000 fine on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after he failed to file a response to the second defamation suit filed by Union Minister Arun Jaitley against him.

Earlier in the day, the HC told Arvind Kejriwal not to put scandalous questions while cross-examination of finance minister Arun Jaitley. The court said cross questioning should be in a dignified manner and no abusive or scandalous must be used.

Although, the court didn’t pass any order as Kejriwal didn’t ask his lawyer Ram Jethmalani to use any abusive language.

However, on Kejriwal's denial of never instructing Jethmalani to use objectional words against Arun Jaitley during a hearing of case on May 17, Jethmalani accused Kejriwal of lying.

"He lied that he did not give me instructions, fact is he did", Jethmalani told ANI.

“I have quit the case of Arvind Kejriwal. He should release letter which I sent to him”, he added.

Jaitley was president of DDCA from the year 2000 to 2013.
