Defamation Case Against Digvijaya Singh Over 'BJP, Bajrang Dal Takes Money From ISI' Remark

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh

A criminal defamation complaint has been filed against senior Congress leader and former Union minister Digvijya Singh over his remark that Pakistani intelligence agency ISI funds the rulling BJP and controversial right-wing group Bajrang Dal. The matter will be heard on October 9.

Referring to the arrest of 11 alleged ISI operatives from Madhya Pradesh in 2017, among which one Dhruv Saxena was reportedly the district coordinator of the BJP's IT cell in Madhya Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh had recently said that members of BJP and Bajrang Dal were caught taking bribe but the then BJP govenrment in the state didn't take any action.

"The entire saga started when BJP IT cell member Dhurv Saxena and Bajarang Dal's Balram Singh were caught taking money from ISI in 2017 by STF but the then Madhya Pradesh government neither charged them with NSA nor took any strict action against them," Digvijaya Singh had said.

"So, my fight is actually this is and everything started with it. Now I leave the future process to Kamal Nath ji and Sonia Gandhi ji. Every political party should maintain dignity and discipline," he added.

The BJP, however, had denied any links with the arrested ISI operatives. State BJP president Nand Kumar Singh Chouhan had said: "Naxals, anti nationals and terrorists don't have any religion and caste. As far as the pictures are concerned, any one can take pictures with anyone."
