Defying China’s warning, India to welcome Dalai Lama in Arunachal Pradesh

Defying warning from China over meeting Tibetan spiritual Dalai Lama, Indian representatives are going to meet the noble prize winner when he visits Arunachal Pradesh this April.

China had already warned India that any understanding with the Tibetan spiritual leader could damage the bilateral ties.

India cleared its stance, saying that the spiritual leader will make a religious trip to Arunachal Pradesh next month, and as a secular nation, India would not stop him from travelling to any part of the country.

Dalai Lama’s trip could bring strain in ties with China as the latter takes him as a separatist and it would escalate tension between the two nations. On the other hand, the dragon is cosying up with Pakistan which already drawn forehead lines for India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration has dubbed his events as public engagement and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju would meet the leader after a gap of eight years.
