A 16-year-old girl studying in Class 10 was allegedly gangraped at a Dehradun boarding school by her seniors on August 14. Four students have been detained and five officials, including the principal, administrator and hostel caretaker have been arrested. A case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been filed, the police said.
The police would produce the four accused students before a juvenile court on Tuesday. The arrested school officials would also be produced before a court for further action against them.
Reports suggest the girl, who lived in the hostel, revealed to her older sister that she was raped after she fell sick. Later, it was found out that she was pregnant. NDTV reported that The girl told her family that a day before Independence Day, she was called to a store room for preps for an event and sexually assaulted.

"The school management tried to suppress the case. The girl says she reported the case to the ayah the same day. But they tried to dissuade her to report. After a month, the crime has come to the knowledge of police," Additional Director General of Police Ashok Kumar told the news channel.
School officials are accused of trying to terminate the girl's pregnancy by giving her drinks mixed with drugs.Her elder sister, who studies in the same school, drew the attention of school authorities to the incident but instead of reporting the matter to the police, they tried to hush it up, the ADG said.They threatened to throw the two girls out of the school if they disclosed it to anyone, he said.

The school authorities are even accused of trying to abort her pregnancy, the ADG said.However, the elder sister of the girl later shared it with a relative who informed the police about it. The arrested students are aged between 16 and 18 years. The school staff arrested are its director Lata Gupta, principal Jitendra Sharma, administrative officer Deepak Malhotra, his wife Tanu Malhotra and a maid named Manju.
