Delhi air quality drops below 'severe' level, to remain 'hazardous' over next three days

The air quality of Delhi has once again deteriorated beyond “severe” level on Thursday and it is likely to remain “hazardous” over the next three days as Environment Ministry predicted a fallout of dust storms from Rajasthan.

A thick blanket of haze enveloped the National Capital and its surrounding Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad on Wednesday and visibility remained low.

“The high pollution levels during this time of the year in Delhi are unusual and primarily due to dust storms from Rajasthan. Rajasthan is facing extremely dry weather conditions, with high temperatures and wind speeds,” the ministry said in a statement.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) called an emergency meeting the Task Force regarding the implementation of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), according to PTI.
