The Delhi state BJP unit on Saturday expelled 21 party workers, including five sitting councillors, for six years after found them indulging in anti-party activities.
The party has issued a list of these expelled party workers who hail from various Lok Sabha areas including Chandni Chowk. It is being seen as big move before MCD elections.
Four outgoing councillors Dr Pankaj Singh from Ranhola, Krishna Gehlot from Navada, Praveen Rajput from Sagarpur West, Sandhya Verma (Patparganj), and Nikki Singh from New AshokNagar were expelled for contesting the civic elections against the party's official candidates, the party said in a statement.
Also, party leader and former Delhi University Students'Union president Manoj Chaudhary has been expelled for the anti-party activities, Delhi BJP media in charge PraveenShankar Kapoor said in the statement, adding that all the 21were expelled for six years from the party.
Jubilant with recent victory in Rajouri Garden bypoll, the party does not want to take any chance for MCD polls which would be held on April 23.
The BJP-Akali Dal alliance candidate, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, had defeated the Congress's Meenakshi Chandela by 14,652 votes, while the AAP candidate lost his security in the triangular contest.

With this victory, the number of BJP legislators in Delhi Assembly has become 4. In the 2015 Assembly polls, the AAP had won 67 seats out of total 70.
