A Delhi court on Friday extended the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram by three days in the INX Media case.

The investigating agency had seeked permission from the special court to confront Karti with his chartered accountant and extension of his custody.

Earlier in the day, Delhi High Court directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) not to arrest Congress leader P Chidambaram’s son.

Currently Karti Chidambaram is being interrogated by the CBI since his February 28 arrest.

The former fiance minister’s son is being investigated for allegedly receiving money to facilitate Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB_ clearance to INX media in 2007 at the time when P Chidambaram was Union Finance Minister during UPA regime.

According to CBI, Karti received kickbacks in the clearance of foreign investment work Rs 305 crore for INX media, owned by Peter and Indrani Mukherjea.

The investigating agency had earlier said that Indrani, who is currently behind bars in connection to a murder case, has accused Karti of demanding and receiving a bribe to get FIPB clearance.
