Delhi HC dismisses Zakir Naik's plea against immediate ban and freezing of accounts

Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed NRI televangelist Zakir Naik’s plea against immediate ban and freezing of accounts. While delivering its order, Delhi HC said, MHA has sufficient material for imposing the ban.

Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) had challenged November 17, 2016, notification of the MHA which had imposed an immediate ban on the organisation under UAPA.

However, IRF maintains that the notification gave no reason and cites no material for taking such a step as was required by the law laid down by Supreme Court.

Earlier, Enforcement Directorate (ED) had issued fresh summons to controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik in connection with its money laundering probe case against him and others.
