The metro trial on the Magenta line between the stations Botanical Garden and Kalkaji is going on since last ten months but there are yet no signs of it opening for the passengers. As per reports, driverless metro trains will run on this route.
As the Magenta line will be operational with driverless metro trains, some technical changes have been incorporated. In place of advanced signaling, wi-fi based communication based train control system (CBTC) has been used.
To make the ultra-modern CBTC technique function in proper manner, a Japanese company has been roped in. This Japanese company is unable to run this operation in proper manner. Amidst all this, the metro trial has been extended.
The benefit of wi-fi signaling system is in having driverless trains and the frequency of trains will be much lesser. With this system, trains will be running at an interval of one and a half minutes.
The distance between Janakpuri and Botanical Garden is 38 km. Trials are being conducted on almost 23 km on this line.
