Delhi: Woman, 2 children die in roof collapse in Uttam Nagar

A woman and her two minor children were killed when a portion of roof collapsed in their flat in a multi-storey building in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area in the wee hours today.

The deceased have been identified as Manju (26), Daksh (5) and Tannu (2). Another member of the family identified as Sushil, 28, who was injured in the incident, has been admitted to a hospital, they said.

Delhi Fire Service said the mishap occurred at around 2.40 AM when the portion of the roof of the flat on the first floor of the building in Mohan Garden area collapsed, burying the occupants.

Besides DFS, various other agencies, including police, municipal corporation and local administration carried out the rescue operation.

Congress leader Mukesh Sharma alleged that sewerage work of DJB in the area may have led to the incident, and demanded action against those responsible for it.
