A 44-year old woman named Smriti Kalra was arrested by Delhi Police in connection with a road rage case. The accused is said to have alleged abuse and assault two Army personnel in Vasant Kunj.
Delhi Police registered a case against her after a video went viral on social media, where she was slapping the army staff. The incident which took place on September 9 was reported to Delhi Police on September 13. Soon a case was registered, resulting in her arrest.
Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen granted the woman bail after she was produced before the court.
It is being reported that an Army truck was en route to Nizamuddin Railway Station when a Tata Indica car overtook it on Rajokri flyover.
The army subedar in his complaint alleged that Smriti was driving the car ahead of them in a zig-zag manner. According to the police, the subedar claimed that the accused refused to give way to the truck despite blowing the horn.
He also stated that the woman in question blocked their way when they tried to change the sides.
The driver had to stop the truck as a result of this. The subedar asked the driver to talk to the 44-year-old woman to explain her the situation.
The army constable driving the vehicle tried to talk to her but to no avail. She allegedly held his collar and slapped him. She also hurled abuses at him.
The army constable went back and sat in the truck, but the case didn't end here.
Smriti Karla came out of the car and continued the abuses. She went to the truck and started banging on its windows. She began abusing the army subedar sitting inside the truck.
The subedar asked her about their fault but she didn't stop the abuses. She slapped the subedar a couple of times after he got down to talk to her.
The video which went viral was submitted as a proof to Delhi Police on September 13. The accused was soon arrested from Gurugram and her car was also seized.
