Rains woke up Delhiites on Monday morning relieving the national capital from scorching heat. Besides giving relief, it also caused heavy traffic congestion on different stretches of roads.
Water logging and slow movement of vehicles made it difficult for the people to reach their destination on time. However, the temperature came down four notches to 24 degrees Celsius, MeT department official said.
Most parts of the capital witnessed rains in the wee hours of Monday morning. The total rainfall was recorded to 16.6 mm till 8.30 AM, the official further added.
It is also expected that rains might hit some parts of the capital again in the next 24 hours. The maximum temperature will hover around 35 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity level was 95 per cent in the morning.
No major disruption was reported due to the rain, although the flow was heavy on certain stretches due to water logging and other reasons. The minimum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 26.6 degrees Celsius.
