Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday demanded the resignation of RBI Governor Urjit Patel over demonetisation.
“RBI Governor should tender his resignation. If I see the RBI Governor anywhere I won't be able to recognise him as he is hardly visible in newspapers or on TV,” Azad said.
“RBI's autonomy is lost, it has now become a rubber stamp of the Government,” he added.
Several Congress leaders on Wednesday demanded ‘restoration of RBI’s autonomy’ and submitted a memorandum at RBI Headquarter in Mumbai, party leader R S Surjewala said.
Congress workers on Wednesday picketed 25 Reserve Bank of India (RBI) offices across the country to protest against Narendra Modi government's currency ban move.
