Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday requested Indian youth to make physical efforts to include others into the cashless society. He urged young people to take a pledge of helping at least 10 families migrate to online and mobile banking by educating them about the technology. 

Addressing the nation on Mann ki Baat since demonetisation announcement on Nov 8, PM Modi also made a passionate request to farmers, labourers and shopkeepers to shift to mobile wallets in order to maximise opportunities and minimise risk of exploitation. 

Here are the top highlights of PM Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’: 

#Sandesh2Soldiers: PM Modi widely appreciated the response to his flagship campaign ‘Sandesh2Soldiers’ and remarked, “When the entire nation stand with our jawans, their strength increases 125 crore times”.

He also announced that selected responses from the campaign are in process of being turned into a coffee table book.

Peace in Kashmir: PM Modi revealed that during his last meeting with senior leaders from Jammu and Kashmir he stressed on restoring the process of education in the Vally. As a result, he remarked, the school burning has almost stopped and over 95% of children appeared for the board exams. 

“Youth of J&K aspires to rise in life through education, I commend them for their enthusiasm,” he said during his monthly radio show Mann ki Baat. 

Demonetisation effect: Acknowledging the massive impact of the currency ban decision announced on November 8, the prime minister reiterated that at least 50 days’ time is required for the effects of the demonetisation to settle. 

Cash crunch miracles: Highlighting the positive stories coming in the times of cash crunch, PM Modi recalled the incident where a bank employee delivered cash to an ailing customer at the hospital along with other examples. 

PM also included two phone calls from people who called in to express support towards demonetisation step. 

Appeal to black money holders: “A few people are stilling looking for ways to convert their black money into white; they are using poor people for this. Want to tell such people that don't correct your ways if you don't want to but please don't use names of poor to deposit your black money,” he said. 

Cashless society: PM Narendra Modi urged famers, labourers and small and medium business holders to grab the opportunity and migrate to digital India. He requested all shopkeepers and businessmen to install mobile wallets and start accepting card payments to increase their business and expand customer base. 

Pledge for the youth: Speaking specially to the young population of India, PM Modi solicited the help of the technically sound generation to help others understand the integrities of online banking mobile wallets and such. He asked every youth to pledge to help at least 10 families migrate to digital banking every day. 

Thanks to Amitabh Bachachan: Expressing deep gratitude to senior actor Amitabh Bachchan, PM Modi revealed that the millennium star has dedicated a poem of his father Haribansh Rai Bachchan to Swachhta Abhiyaan. 

“Amitabh Bachchan wrote to me- Swachh tan, swachh mann, Swachh Bharat, mera parichay,” PM said.
