Haryana Police arrested Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Singh’s 'adopted daughter' Priyanka Taneja alias Honeypreet Insaan from Zirakpur, around 25 kilometers from Haryana-Punjab capital Chandigarh on Tuesday.
Panchkula Police Commissioner said, “We have arrested Honeypreet. She will be produced in court tomorrow.”
Senior police officers from the Haryana Police said raids were conducted to nab Honeypreet after they received intelligence inputs regarding her hideout in Zirakpur, an adjoining city to Panchkula.
Last week she had filed for anticipatory bail with the Delhi Police, which was rejected.
Honeypreet had been evading arrest after Haryana Police mentioned her name in an FIR for inciting violence in Panchkula and adjoining areas on August 25, the day when Gurmeet Singh was convicted for raping two of his followers by the CBI court.
Earlier, Haryana Police had formed several raiding teams to nab Honeypreet. Police had conducted raids at Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Rajasthan and Delhi to nab the Dera chief’s daughter.
Honeypreet told the media soon after her arrest that she was in India.
She further added, "I'm pained and shocked, how can the world do this to us? We are great patriots and we love India. Truth will prevail and the world will see this."
