DGMO to Pakistani counterpart: 'If Pak Army continues firing across LoC and abet infiltrators, India will respond appropriately'

The Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Indian Army on Monday said that it spoke to its Pakistani counterpart and discussed current situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and highlighted needless escalations by Pakistani Army.

The Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Indian Army on Monday said that it spoke to its Pakistani counterpart and discussed current situation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and highlighted needless escalations by the Pakistani Army.

The DGMO also conveyed commitment of maintaining peace and tranquillity which is contingent to Pakistan Army's intentions and actions.

Lieutenant General A K Bhatt also conveyed to its Pakistani counterpart that if Pak Army continues to abet infiltrators and cause trance LoC firing, Indian Army will take appropriate actions.

“If Pakistan Army continues to abet infiltrations and cause trans-LC firings, Indian Army will take appropriate retaliatory actions,” the Army said in a statement, sharing details of the conversation between Bhatt and his Pakistani counterpart, Maj Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza.

It said Lt Gen Bhatt highlighted cases of escalations of tension by the Pakistan Army during the conversation.

“On the issue raised by DGMO Pak Army regarding civilian killings, DGMO Indian Army conveyed that the Indian Army is a professional Army and will not harm civilians in any manner,” the Indian Army said.

It said the request for the conversation was made by the Pakistan DGMO. (With PTI Inputs)
