Chinese foreign ministry on Tuesday warned India to withdraw its troops from the disputed region of Dokalam in Bhutan. The ministry in a statement said that even though the country wants peace on Sino-India border, "but make no mistake, that does not mean will compromise on territorial sovereignty."
"The root of the current problem is that Indian border troops still linger illegally on China's territory," the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement urged "India to get a clear picture of the current situation and withdraw its border troops back to the Indian side."
The statement comes days before India's national security advisor Ajit Doval is about to attend the BRICS Summit in Beijing on July 27-28. Doval will attend NSA talks during his visit, where the issue of Sikkim standoff is likely to be raised.
