Doklam standoff: Chinese vice premier arrives in Nepal, likely to discuss border dispute with India

In the backdrop of Doklam deadlock, Chinese vice premier Wang Yang arrived in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu on Monday which is being seen as part of nation’s strategy.

According to an official, Yang will try to convince Nepal on Doklam issue so the latter maintains a neutral stand if tension escalates between the two countries.

Yang, who is spearheading a 21-member delegation, will meet Nepal’s President Bidhiya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

The Chinese vice-premier landed in Nepal after concluding his Pakistan visit where he was the chief guest on Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14.
