New Delhi:

The escalating tensions between India and China over the Doklam stand off has grabbed international eyeballs. Amid the threats of a nuclear war between United States and North Korea, the world media also fears armed conflict between two Asian atomic powers.

A recent post in US-based The Washington Post says that current standoff is  'more worrisome because it comes at a time when relations between the two nuclear-armed powers are declining, with China framing the issue as a direct threat to its territorial integrity.'

Analysts speaking to the Post warn that it would be lackadaisical to rule out esclation in current situation.
"It would be very complacent to rule out escalation," Shashank Joshi, an analyst with the Royal United Services Institute in London told the international journal. "It's the most serious crisis in India-China relations for 30 years."

The article also included statement from Xu Guangyu, a retired PLA major general, who suggested that China will not attack, but India fires first bullet then it will lose all control and the initiative over the situation.

"We won't be the first to fire. We are very clear about this line, and this shows China's sincerity," he said. "But it's not up to China to decide. Whether there is to be war depends on the Indians. However, if they fire the first shot, they would lose control and the initiative."
