The Dominican Republic on Wednesday released a postal stamp to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Indian homeland.

The Dominican Republic on Wednesday released a postal stamp to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. “Proud to announce the release of the postal stamp in the Dominican Republic on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Indian homeland,” the Embassy of the Dominican Republic here said in a tweet. 

“Thank (Dominican Republic Foreign Minister) Miguel Vargas M for this tremendous gesture honouring the father of the Nation of India. Thanks to the efforts of his close friend Mr CF Andrews, Mahatma Gandhi and his concept of non-violence were equally influential in Caribbean as elsewhere!” Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan tweeted.
