New Delhi:

United States President Donald Trump arrived in India today on his first official two-day state visit to the country. Trump, the the seventh American President to visit India, arrived in Ahmedabad around noon on Monday. After his arrival, President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a mammoth crowd of more than 1,00,000 people at an event titled 'Namaste Trump' at the Motera Stadium. Speaking at the Namaste Trump event, the US President asserted that relations with India hold a special place for his country, saying that America "loves" and "respects' India. He said United will remain a 'loyal and faithful' to India. Donald Trump also announced that the US will seal defence deals worth USD 3 billion on Tuesday.

"I had committed to this trip long time ago. I look forward to it. I hear it’s going to be a big event..the biggest event they ever had in India. That’s what the Prime Minister told me. Its’ the biggest event they ever had. It’s going to be very exciting. I am going to be there for one night,” said the US President.

US President Donald Trump called Prime Minister Narendra Modi his 'friend before leaving for his visit to India. 

"I look forward to being with the people of India. We are going to have many millions and millions of people. It’s a long trip. I get along very well with Prime Minister Modi. He is a friend of mine," Trump told reporters outside the White House.
