New Delhi:

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the chief of Art of Living Foundation, has made an appeal to the political parties to not to politicise the World Cultural Festival 2016, scheduled to be held on the banks of Yamuna river on Friday.

"The event is being held to unite all cultures, nations, religions and ideologies. Let's come together," the Art of Living founder said in a tweet.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Opposition criticised the government in Parliament for the use of Army for a private event.

The government, however, defended Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and said he was committed to protect the environment and that his intensions cannot be doubted. The government also claimed that the event is being organised with all permissions.
