An earthquake measuring 5.3 magnitude on Richter scale hit Andaman and Nicobar Islands today. Mild tremors were felt in the island around 9 pm.
No tsunami alert has been issued following the medium-intensity quake whose epicentre was Andaman Islands.
The quake struck at 9:33 PM at a depth of 10 kms, according to National Centre for Seismology. Earlier, a quake measuring 3 on the Richter Scale had jolted Nagaon in Assam at 11.42 AM at a depth of 2.4 kms.
