The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has found a news route to bring back absconding liquor baron Vijay Mallya and former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi.

The ED has sent Non- bailable warrants through Letter rogatories to bring back Lalit Modi from the United Kingdoms where he staying under exile in London.

A similar mechanism is being adopted to get Vijay Mallya back to India who is facing multiple cases for financial irregularities and unpaid loans.

This is the first time that such a step is being taken and to pace up the proceedings ED has already planned to send a non-bailable warrant through Letter Rogatory to the UK to get Vijay Mallya back.

The idea behind such a step is that the UK authorities execute the Indian Non-Bailable Warrants promptly. It will help to shorten the time period to bring back Lalit Modi and Vijay Mallya as extradition is a long drawn process.

The mechanism was discussed in the conference with UK authorities held on Monday and Tuesday which was attended by officials and authorities of MEA, MHA, CBI, ED and the central authorities of UK government.
