Eid-al-Fitr 2019

With the Executive members of Ruyat-E-Hilaal Committee, Karnataka announcing the sighting of the moon, the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow across the country. Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, marks the revelation of Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad, and lasts between 29 and 30 days, depending on the sighting of the moon. The first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the lunar Islamic calendar, is celebrated as Eid-ul-Fitr.

Extending the greeting to the nation, President Ram Nath Kovind said, “on the auspicious occasion of Idu’l Fitr, I offer my greetings and good wishes to all fellow citizens, and to our Muslim brothers and sisters in India and abroad.” “Marking the culmination of the holy month of Ramzan, this festival strengthens our belief in charity, fraternity and compassion. On this day, let us re-dedicate ourselves to these eternal values that characterise our civilization,” he further added.

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti also wished countrymen ‘joyful’ Eid. “Chand Mubarak. As we mark an end to the blissful month of Ramzan, here’s wishing everyone a joyous Eid,” she wrote on Twitter.

“Heartiest wishes to all on the occasion of #EidUlFitr. Reigion is a matter of personal faith but festivals are universal. Let us preserve this spirit of unity and live together in peace and harmony. #EidMubarak,” West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote.

"Eid Mubarak to everyone across the globe! May Almighty bless you with more happiness, love, wisdom, kindness, peace & prosperity on this blessed occasion," RJD Leader Tejashwi Yadav.

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot also wished the nation. “My greetings and best wishes on the occasion of #EidUlFitr. May this festival bring peace and harmony in our Country,” Gehlot wrote on Twitter.‏
