As the situation across the border area continued to be grim with Kashmir burning due to multiple terror attacks during Ramzan ceasefire, the BSF troops and the Pakistani Rangers on Saturday did not exchange sweets at the Attari-Wagah border on the occasion of Eid.
"Following continuous ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir, there was no exchange of sweets between the Border Security Force troops and the Pakistani Rangers at Attari-Wagah border on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr," the news agency ANI reported.

On January 26, in a departure from the past, India denied to exchanging sweets and greetings with Pakistan. The move was taken due to heightened tension between the nations along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The border guards of both India and Pakistan usually exchange sweets on major religious events like Eid and Diwali, and on nationally important days like Independence Day and Republic Day.
