At least two terrorists were killed on Wednesday in an encounter that broke out in Kulgam area of Jammu and Kashmir. Additional security forces have been rushed to the area for strengthening the cordon. The identity of the terrorist is yet to be ascertained.
On Saturday, one suspected terrorist was “neutralised” in an encounter with security forces in Kashmir’s Sopore of Baramulla. Arms and ammunition have been recovered from the site of encounter. In the anti-militancy operation, the spokesman said, a cordon and search operation was launched by security forces in the Hathlangoo area of Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
During the search operation, terrorists fired upon the forces, triggering an encounter, he said.
One terrorist was killed in the gun battle, he added. The body of the slain terrorist was retrieved from the site of the encounter and his identity and affiliation was yet to be ascertained, the spokesman said.
He said incriminating material, including arms and ammunition, was recovered from the site of the encounter.
In another operation, three terrorists, including the one who was part of a group of ultras involved in the killing of Army jawan Aurangzeb last year, were on Saturday gunned down in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said.
Three Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorists were killed in a pre-dawn operation by security forces in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
