Nicolaus Fest, European Union MP, on Wednesday said that just like foreign delegation, Indian Opposition leaders should be allowed to visit the region. “I think if you let in European Union parliamentarians, you should also let in opposition politicians from India. So, there is some kind of disbalance, the government should somehow address it,” West was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. Ever since the visit by EU lawmakers were announced, major Indian Opposition parties have slammed the Narendra Modi government over warped policies. “MPs from Europe are welcome to go on a guided tour of Jammu & #Kashmir while Indian MPs are banned & denied entry. There is something very wrong with that,” senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had said on Twitter.

Another Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had also slammed the Modi government as saying that, “When Indian political leaders have been prevented from meeting the people of J&K, what possessed the great chest-beating champion of nationalism to allow European politicians to visit J&K. This is an outright insult to India's own Parliament and our democracy!”

“Fantastic Choice of MEPs who suffer from a disease -Islamophobia (Nazi lovers)are going to Muslim majority Valley ,sure people will welcome them by “Ware Paeth Khoshh Paeth” Gairon pe karam apano pe sitam, ai jaan-e-vafaa ye zulm na kar rahane de abhi thodaa saa dharam,” Asaduddin Owaisi had said in a stinging remark.

Meanwhile, terming Article 370 an internal issue of India, EU parliamentarians visiting Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday said they stand by the country in its fight against global terrorism. Addressing a press conference on the last day of their two-day visit to the Valley, the group of 23 members of European Parliament also condemned the killing of five labourers from West Bengal by terrorists on Tuesday."If we talk about Article 370 it is India's internal matter. What concerns us is terrorism which is a global menace and we should stand with India in fighting it. There was an unfortunate incident of killing of five innocent labourers by terrorists. We condemn it," said Henri Malosse from France.
