Yoga guru Ramdev, who has been raising his voice against black money since 2009, in an exclusive interview to News Nation supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to demonetise high-value currency notes.
Below are the excerpts from the interview:
#We started the campaign against black money in 2009
#Modi government had to keep the decision confidential and it was necessary to announce the demonetisation move in a surprise announcement. Had it been leaked, it wouldn't have been successful
#The purpose of demonetisation is to tighten the noose around the neck of black money holders
#Terror funding stopped after demonetisation move
#Non-performing asset (NPA) laws should be strict
#Banks should also be probed, cash overflow should be checked
#Deaths after demonetisation not because of standing in queue; deaths are being used as political tool
#Patanjali is facing loss of RS 100 crore per month after demonetisation, but country is first for us not money
#I don't understand why Arvind Kejriwal and Mamata Banerjee are against the demonetisation move
#Mamata should help people open bank accounts in West Bengal instead of using her efforts in staging protests in Delhi
#I don't know what is wrong with Arvind ji. He had been with us in the fight against corruption and black money. Even he had this opinion that the high value currency notes make the job of black money holders easy
#There is a threat to PM Narendra Modi's life because the terror funding has stopped after demonetisation. Dawood Ibrahim, drug mafias, political mafias, land mafias, gold mafias have now lost crores of money. So, now they can go to any extent to take a revenge
#PM Modi has a taken the biggest political risk by discontinuing Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. PM Modi has risked his own life, risked his party and risked his vote bank, no doubt should be raised on his intensions. This is for the country's good and PM Modi is not going to get any political gains out of it
#Speaking against demonetisation is like speaking against the country
