External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met with United Arab Emirate’s (UAE) Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash and exchanged views on strengthening bilateral ties on Wednesday.
Gargash also met M J Akbar, Minister of State in the External Affairs Ministry, he said.
Raveesh Kumar, the spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs, took to Twitter and wrote, "EAM @SushmaSwaraj met with UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash. The two leaders exchanged views on intensifying bilateral relationship, as well as on the regional and global situation."

He also said Gargash met MJ Akbar, Minister of State, External Affairs Ministry. Kumar wrote, "MoS @mjakbar met with UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash. Engaging discussion on issues of bilateral and regional interest took place."

The ties between India and UAE have been on an upswing over the past few years.
During an event here, the UAE minister said an element of “strategic component†has been added to the relationship of the two countries that has been witnessing an intensification in ties in key sectors of defence, trade and energy.
Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, was the chief guest at the Republic Day Parade last year.
