Faridabad:
An Indian Police Services (IPS) officer has allegedly committed suicide at his residence. Posted as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Faridabad, Haryana, Vikram Kapoor was reportedly upset for the past few days.
He shot himself with his service revolver at his home in Police Lines, Sector 30, Faridabad late on Tuesday night. However, the exact reason for this extreme step is not known yet. Police is yet to recover a suicide note.
An investigation has been launched into the incident and the body has been sent for post-mortem. According to reports, the family members informed cops after they heard a gunshot in Kapoor’s room. They claimed that the IPS officer locked himself inside the room before taking the extreme step. Investigators are recording statements of every family member.
Kapoor, who originally hailed from Kurukshetra district in Haryana, was promoted as an IPS officer last year. He was due to retire next year.
