The National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday stated that Article 370 of the Constitution can never be repealed and if it happens then the situation can spiral out of control.
Article 370 is a 'temporary provision' which grants special autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir. Under Part XXI of the Constitution of India, which deals with "Temporary, Transitional and Special provisions", the state of Jammu and Kashmir has been accorded special status under Article 370.

Earlier on November 4, demanding autonomy and self-rule for Kashmir, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that PM Modi, with an unprecedented mandate, can create history by changing the narrative on Jammu and Kashmir.
“Democracy is a battle of ideas and dialogue is the only way forward. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has an unprecedented mandate and can create history by changing the narrative on Jammu and Kashmir,†she said in a series of tweets.
“Article 370 is the nation’s commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and therefore should be honoured,†Mufti said.
Mehbooba Mufti’s statement came at when some leaders of BJP, her ally in the state, are demanding removal of the Article 370 from the valley.
Earlier, Mufti had welcomed Union government’s decision to appoint interlocutor to start a sustained dialogue with all stakeholders including separatists to resolve the Kashmir issue.
October 23, Centre had appointed former IB Director Dineshwar Sharma to lead the dialogue process with all the stakeholders on behalf of the Govt of India.
