Farooq Abdullah suggests Indian government to take help of friendly countries to initiate talks with Pakistan

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah on Friday suggested the Indian government should take help of friendly countries to start talks with Pakistan to resolve cross-border firing , a day after India warned the neighbouring hostile country to face strong retaliation if firing and shelling is not stopped in the border areas.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah on Friday suggested the Indian government should take help of friendly countries to start talks with Pakistan to resolve cross-border firing , a day after India warned the neighbouring hostile country to face strong retaliation if firing and shelling is not stopped in the border areas.

“Help of friendly countries should be taken to start talks to solve the issue to the earliest,” said Farooq.

“We cannot go on war. They too have atom bombs. Only talks can resolve the issue,” added the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister.

He added, “You have to catch the bull by the horns, sometimes you have to do it.”

The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister also mentioned that the US President Donald Trump and China had shown interest in solving Kashmir issue.

"Trump himself had said, 'I want to settle Kashmir problem.' China too had said that they want to mediate in Kashmir. We didn't ask them," said Abdullah.

Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Nirmal Singh condemned Abdullah's statement. 

Singh told the media, "I want to remind him when he was the CM he talked of attacking Pakistan. Why this two-faced approach?"

He added that the Prime Minister is personnaly monitoring the situation in Kashmir and he wants the people to prospeer and tread on the the path of development.

In the last one month seven people including four jawans were killed and as many as 15 people were injured due to firing and shelling from across the border.

In the last one week the Indian Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) has called Pakistan counterparts four times. He informed his counterpart on how Pakistan Army is targeting civillian areas.

According to media reports more than 4000 people have been displaced in Nowshera area alone. The Jammu and Kashmir government has accommodated 3812 people in six relief camps alone.
