A major fire broke out in a forested area behind Rajghat in central Delhi this morning.
No casualties were reported in the incident which took place around 10.40 AM. As many as 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to contain the fire and the operation lasted for hours, a fire official said.
“The fire could have been caused by hot and dry weather conditions. However, the exact cause can be known after an assessment following the cooling operation,” fire and police officials said.
In a separate incident, a fire broke out at the Bhalswa landfill site used for dumping garbage by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation.
No casualties were reported in the incident which took place around 7.30 AM. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flame.
