Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has been discharged from Mumbai’s Asian Heart Institute on Saturday after Jharkhand High Court rejected his request for 3 months bail extension on medical grounds and asked him to surrender by August 30. After getting discharged the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief reached Patna on Saturday afternoon.
Earlier, the Ranchi High Court had extended Lalu Prasad Yadav’s bail period till August 27.

Former Bihar CM’s advocate had told the court that he has not recovered completely and requested the court to extend his bail for 3 more months.
On May 11, the Ranchi high court had granted six weeks of provisional bail to Lalu Prasad Yadav on medical grounds and later extended it to August 14.
The court had then extended the bail period once again till August 20 due to medical reasons.

The former Bihar chief minister has been convicted in four multi-crore fodder scam cases- Chaibasa Treasury, Chaibasa Treasury (RC68A/96), Deoghar Treasury and Dumka Treasury (RC38A/96).
The multi-crore fodder scam cases is about withdrawing money illegally from government treasuries in different districts of Bihar in 1990s when the RJD was in power in the state.
