RJD chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav’s provisional bail has been extended till July 3 by Ranchi High Court on Friday in connection to fodder scam cases.
The Ranchi High Court is now set to hear RDJ president’s plea for extension of the bail period on June 29.
Yadav was granted a release order by trial courts on March 16 in accordance with the Jharkhand High Court’s verdict, which provided him provisional bail in all three fodder scam cases on medical grounds.
A Special CBI Court had convicted Prasad on January 24 in the case which related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 37.62 crore from the Chaibasa treasury and sentenced him to five years of imprisonment.
Yadav was also convicted in connected with the case of fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 89.27 lakh from Deoghar Treasury in the 1990s. He was handed a 3.5 years sentence in the case on 23 December 2017.
