Haryana: India's 2007 World T20 star Joginder Sharma's father stabbed, looted in Rohtak

Former Indian cricketer and Punjab Police officer Joginder Sharma’s father was allegedly stabbed and robbed by two miscreants near his shop in Haryana's Rohtak, reports said on Saturday.

Former Indian cricketer and Punjab Police officer Joginder Sharma’s father was allegedly stabbed and robbed by two miscreants near his shop in Haryana's Rohtak, reports said on Saturday.

According to local newspapers, 68-year-old Om Prakash was attacked by two unidentified youths in their early 20s while he was closing his shop near Kathmandi.

Reports read that the duo after purchasing cold drinks and cigarettes attacked Om Prakash. According to the complaint lodged by Om Prakash, the duo attacked him with a knife after he tried to thwart the loot. 

"After stabbing me they entered my shop and robbed all the cash from the drawer," Om Prakash was quoted as saying. He added that the miscreants had locked him inside the shop after the incident. His son, Deepak, came to his rescue after he called him.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against unknown miscreants. Joginder Sharma played for the Indian Cricket team from 2004-2007. Presently, he is serving the Haryana Police as deputy superintendent of police.
